WivMe — Community Guidelines

DRAFT — review before launch. The Online Safety Act effectively requires a clear, published set of rules like this, plus visible reporting and enforcement. Items marked [DECISION] / [LEGAL REVIEW] as before.

WivMe exists so adults can find people to do things with — a walk, a gig, a coffee, a class. To keep it warm, safe and genuinely useful, everyone follows these guidelines. They form part of our Terms of Service, and breaking them can mean content removal, suspension, or removal from WivMe.

What WivMe is for

WivMe is for finding platonic activity companions. It is not a dating app, not a place to sell things, and not a support line. Come here to find people to share an activity with — that's it.

The basics — be a good human

  • Be kind and respectful. Treat people the way you'd want to be treated.
  • Be honest. Use your real identity, a genuine photo, and accurate information.
  • Be inclusive. Everyone's welcome regardless of age, race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or background.
  • Show up. If you commit to an activity, honour it or let people know.

What's not allowed

You must not:

  • Use WivMe for dating, romance, or anything sexual. This includes flirting, sexual comments, or romantic advances. WivMe is platonic.
  • Harass, bully, threaten or abuse anyone, on or off the platform.
  • Discriminate or use hateful language about anyone or any group.
  • Post sexual, violent, graphic, or otherwise harmful content.
  • Solicit or sell — no advertising, promotions, recruiting, MLM, or asking people for money.
  • Impersonate anyone, or use someone else's mobile number to get an account.
  • Endanger anyone, including sharing anyone's private information without consent.
  • Break the law or use WivMe to arrange, promote, or carry out anything illegal.
  • Contact anyone who has blocked you, or try to get around a block, suspension, or ban.
  • Target vulnerable users. Our community includes many people aged 55+; predatory behaviour is treated with zero tolerance.

Illegal content

We remove illegal content and take action against users who post it, in line with our duties under the Online Safety Act. Serious matters may be reported to the police or relevant authorities. [LEGAL REVIEW — align with your illegal-content risk assessment and reporting obligations.]

Staying safe when you meet

WivMe gives you tools — use them:

  • Meet in public places, especially the first time.
  • Tell someone where you're going and who with.
  • Use the check-in feature so someone knows you're okay.
  • Reveal your location only through the staged location-reveal flow — you don't have to share your exact address.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. If you're in danger, call 999.

WivMe's safety features help, but they're not a guarantee. You're responsible for your own safety, and for treating others safely too.

Reporting and blocking

If someone breaks these rules or makes you uncomfortable, report or block them from their profile, an activity, or a message. Reports are confidential. We also use automated tools that scan content and account behaviour to catch problems, and a person reviews what gets flagged. We review reports and flags and act — that can mean warnings, content removal, suspension, or permanent removal. Some content that seriously breaks the rules may be blocked automatically as you try to send or save it. If you're affected by a decision we make, you can appeal it. Enforcement

Depending on what's happened, we may: remove content, issue a warning, limit features, suspend an account, or permanently remove someone from WivMe. We consider the seriousness, the risk to others, and whether it's happened before. Some breaches — especially anything predatory, sexual, or dangerous — can mean immediate permanent removal.
